Details
The 'teens were the height of the mandolin's popularity in North America, and several manufacturers like Vega, and Martin, competed with Gibson for a share of the thriving market for quality mandolins. Vega's "cylinder back" models used an innovative radically arched back to give their mandolin bodies more depth and a deeper tone on the bass strings. This example has seen quite a bit of use judging by finger wear to the top along the bottom edge of the pickguard, but it's remarkably solid with it's original parts throughout. There are no cracks or damage, and the original varnish finish is in good shape. It's very playable and has a lovely sweet tone.
