Details
The A-4 was Gibson's highest A model mandolin, with an extended 24-fret fingerboard and the same soundhole rosette found on the F-4. This version also got the deluxe Handel tuners with inlaid tuner buttons, another feature not found on lower models. This example is original throughout, including the pearl nut, but a real plus is the refret which was done with the slightly wider frets like those found on new Collings and Northfield models. The fingerboard was also given a very slight radius that's barely noticeable but you can feel it, and the result is that wonderful vintage A model sparkle with a smoother and more modern feel to the neck. No cracks, and original varnish finish throughout.
