Details
This Little Wonder Model Guitar Banjo was made in Boston, Mass. in 1914, a decade after Vega purchased the A.C. Fairbanks company. It’s in excellent structural and cosmetic condition. It has a maple neck, ebony fretboard and 12-inch laminated maple rim. The Little Wonder is the plainest professional-grade instrument Vega made and it has a simple brass wire tone ring. The tailpiece and the hooks and nuts are all original. The previous owner got tired of fighting with the original friction page and swapped them for a set of Rickard Cycloidal tuning machines, which have a 10:1 turning ratio and make tuning a breeze. Vegas from the era are impeccably crafted and are by most reckoning the best open back guitar-banjos ever built. This instrument has a round, plunky tone that is well suited to everything from New Orleans Jazz to ragtime, Old-Time Country and beyond. Includes a recent vintage hardshell case.
