This is our Latest Charles Waldman Banjo. So far these have been exceedingly difficult to keep around. Charles only makes 4 -6 per year and they are fantastic banjos!
I want to begin by saying Charles Waldman makes beautiful banjos. These instruments are works of art which shouldn't be too surprising since Charles Waldman is a well-known artist. Though he has been creating award-winning paintings with oil on linen he has also, in recent years been turning out the occasional banjo and these are wonderful! Check out the pictures below to see the well chosen woods he uses. This Banjo is made of cherrywood, and walnut with touches of spruce and an ebony fingerboard. The wood is picked for its beauty as well as it's resonant mechanical properties. The wooden interior resonator is unique in its design and gives the banjo a soft, rich tone that makes it a perfect frailing banjo.
If you are a fan the lyrical sound of a frailing banjo you should also look into this one which has such a pleasant sound you could play it in your thin-walled studio apartment without your neighbors complaining a bit! In fact you might find them banging on your wall to keep playing when you put the banjo down.
One of the technological features that give this banjo such a nice sound is the tone ring. The tone rings is something that Charles came up with. It consists of a number of chambers, each a different size. The chambers are open to the front of the banjo at one end and are open to the interior area at the other end of the chamber. This seems to work because these banjos have a nice rich tone. Charles Waldman banjos are a limited item. He only has time to make a few every year.
These banjos are keepers. Buy one and pass it down for generations. They are beautiful to see and beautiful to hear. This is a banjo, you will never regret owning.
