Details
This Gibson Les Paul Custom and it has obviously spent some serious time in the hands of a gigging musician and has all the mojo that comes from a life lived on the road. The belt-buckle rash on the back and the dings on the back of the neck tell us this was a musical tool and treated as such. It was recently refretted, so it plays well. At some point in its life, the tuners were replaced with Schaller M6 ages ago. The bridge and knobs are replacements, but the pickups, the pots and wiring are original. There is a very slight indentation in the finish just below the nut that doesn’t show in photos, but it’s possible it’s evidence of a repaired crack.
When Gibson reintroduced the Les Paul Custom in 1968, they opted to build it with a maple top and a mahogany back, unlike its 1950s predecessors which had a solid mahogany body. Gibson also made the two pickup configuration as the default rather than the three pickup style. It has the three-piece sandwich-style mahogany body Gibson was using in the 1970s. Comes with the original hardshell case, which has a previous owner’s band name painted on the top.
